WHY THE SKY APPEARS BLUE

WHY DOES THE SKY APPEAR BLUE?

HELLO DEAR FRIENDS, WELCOME TO OUR BLOG ONCE AGAIN!!! IN THIS POST WE WILL BE DISCUSSING "WHY SKY APPEARS BLUE TO US"...

SO, LET'S PEEP INTO THE WORLD OF SCIENCE AND FIND OUT THE REASON BEHIND!!!

SCATTERING OF LIGHT

(TYNDALL EFFECT) :

WHAT IS "TYNDALL EFFECT" ?? IF WE THINK HOW A RAINBOW FORMS WE GET TO CONCLUSION THAT, IT FORMS DUE TO  SCATTERING OF SUNLIGHT THROUGH THE COMPONENTS OF AIR SUCH AS DUST, SMOKE, WATER VAPOUR, ATMOSPHERIC GASES, AND MUCH MORE...

THIS SCATTERING OF LIGHT DUE TO PRESENCE OF PARTICLES IS WHAT WE CALL THE "TYNDALL EFFECT".

CAUSE OF TYNDALL EFFECT:

THE TYNDALL EFFECT IS CAUSED BECAUSE OF MOVEMENT OF UNSTABLE PARTICLES PRESENT IN A MIXTURE (AIR IN OUR CASE).
SO, DUE TO THE "TYNDALL EFFECT"  THE SUNLIGHT/LIGHT IS SCATTERED INTO MANY DIFFERENT  COLOURS, BUT A HUMAN EYE COULD SEE JUST 7 MAJOR COLOURS WHICH WE CALL "VIBGYOR"/RAINBOW COLOURS.

REASON BEHIND THE SKY BEING BLUE:

THE PARTICLE BY WHICH THE LIGHT IS BEING SCATTERED PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE...

THIS IS BECAUSE, WHENEVER THE LIGHT IS SCATTERED BY THE DUST PARTICLES IT SCATTERS "EQUALLY AMONG 7 COLOURS " BUT IF THE LIGHT IS BEING SCATTERED BY THE MOLECULES/PARTICLES OF ATMOSPHERIC GASES SUCH AS "NITROGEN" &"OXYGENWHICH ARE PRESENT
IN LARGE AMOUNTS IN OUR ATMOSPHERE, IT SCATTERS "UNEQUALLY" AMONG THE COLOURS HAVING MORE FREQUENCY (LESS WAVELENGTH) WHICH ARE "VIOLET AND "BLUE".

BUT, A HUMAN EYE IS MORE SENSITIVE TOWARDS THE "BLUE" COLOUR THAN THE "VIOLET" HENCE WE COULD SEE THE SKY IN BLUE COLOUR INSTEAD OF VIOLET COLOUR...

    1. good question!!!
if u recall that the red color have the highest wavelength and thus it travels more distance, due to this when the sun emits the light the red color reaches us faster than the color and thus we see the sky as red when the sunrises IE; sunrise as well as sunset...
      keep learning
      and be curious
